Hi, does anyone feel a lot more anxious in the morning or when they wake up?

I do, and I don’t know why this is...

I do, mornings are my worst time of the day. Sometimes the anxiety is unbearable and turns into depression and I end up crying the entire morning.

I have had that for a while, due to myself being really not a morning person. I typically don't feel somewhat like myself until at least a few hours later and I feel the best during the day in the evening.

@Beta012 I feel so good in the evenings !! So calmed and relax. Its incredible how my mood changes. It must be something chemical.

I usually feel somewhat refreshed in the mornings, so my anxiety comes on stronger in the later afternoon and evening. I find if I get outside and breathe fresh air and get sunlight, it helps.

One thing called the dawn phenomenon could be one reason you feel anxious if you get up early. Roughly between 4 and 8 AM our bodies release hormones including adrenaline and cortisol.

I wake up to a racing heart and excessive worrying every morning. I wait until it passes to get up and go on with my day.

I too also wake up with anxiety in the morning. palpitations and extremely anxious. I woke up this morning very anxious and nauseous. The worse.

a few years ago my therapist told me that this is because of our cortisol levels when we wake up. i saw someone else in this thread comment something similar, but i think that's what causes it.

I am like that to. I always tend to feel more anxious in the mornings (which is when I take my medication), throughout the day, till the evening. I only start to feel better like an hour before I go to bed.

I definitely feel a lot more anxious and paranoid when I first wake up.

I do have a lot of anxiety in the mornings. Sometimes I get severe panic attacks. I feel much better at night.

Its gone 2 AM in the UK. I always feel more comfortable in the small, quiet hours.
