I've been playing guitar for 27 years.I've always wanted to be a musician. For as long as I can remember.
So I decided to do something about it.For a long time my ambition has been to go busking.
I sold my most precious possessions and bought what I needed to go busking.
I bought a trolley ,amp,dc to ac converter, car battery and more.
So on Friday i went out to a spot i had picked out.And I gave it a go.I had a backing track playing a bminor blues and I played along as best I could.
I played for an hour and earned a little over 8 quid.My hands froze up because it was cold otherwise I would have carried on playing.
The point I'm trying to make is that it was the first time in my life where i earned money from doing something which I actually enjoy. And people were enjoying what I was doing.
I would like to do it again. My next goal is to save enough to get a new guitar from busking.

that is good £8 an hour and more importantly you are doing what you enjoy. :)
And it is nearly summer so will be warmer soon.

:clap:That's great! I often stop to listen to buskers, nice antidote to all the shops and people dashing about. Must have felt really good to be able to do that, all the best with your next goal too!

Wow go you! I think your "best you could" sounds like it must be pretty good to make £8 an hour! Such a lovely thread to read, thanks for posting. Such a great achievement :) When are you planning on going back out there?

Congratulations!

You've achieved something, and given something too: music for people to enjoy, hence the payment received.

Keep going strong :) :)

As a little addition, I really like busker and all street performers. I love that the experience of walking down the street can vary depending on who else is there. They are not all to my taste of course and I wonder how much it is worth it, the human statues for example but I admire their determination. I don't have a load of money but have given money on quite a few occasions to buskers. I remember one time when I was standing on a bridge just looking at the river below, lost in a bit of a moment in my mind, the music and words from the nearby busker really moved me, it was a very strange feeling I had that day, I gave him some money and thanked him for the positive contribution he had made to my day :)

There are some wonderful buskers around. I remember about a year ago I was shopping and I started to hear this song that I knew but couldn't quite put my finger on it. Turns out is was my fav song but it was so beautiful that I was in tears and for the rest of the day I just couldn't stop thinking about it. Even now, typing this my eyes welled up.

Thanks for replying.
I'm hoping to go out tomorrow.Afew showers are forecast.I've made a waterproof top for my trolley. Its a little heavy but it should be ok.It takes me about 30 minutes to get to my busking space.
I am hoping to be there for most of the day.Cant go to the toilet or drink anything until I get back home.So we'll see how I get on.
Just need to charge my battery over night and hopefully get up in the morning nice and early.

I've been 3 times now. I made 8, 15, and 13 pounds. Its been a real challenge and apart from having to cart my stuff around and a few symptoms like anxiety and some voices it has largely been a positive experience.I've been working on a new song which is going quite well.
My wife is starting driving lessons again so all of the money I can raise is going towards that, which is fine by me.I suppose she'll pass eventually.
Thanks for the support everyone!

It is a well cool thing to do. I would love my bloke to go busking to pay for my driving lesson- that is well sexy to me:)

Fuck the voices and the anxiety and just feel really proud of yourself.

What are the songs that you do?

You are probably the closest we have to a rock star on the forum lol that's quite a claim landza !

Hi Bluflames. The songs that I do are all instrumental music with a backing track and I'm playing lead electric guitar over the top.The first one I tried is a blues in B minor. Then I added a moody ballad in E minor.
Im working on a new song which is a rock song in D.It switches between a clean sound and a distortion section which I'm hoping the OAP's will still like. But I risk alienating some listeners because not everyone likes rock guitar.
Apparently the weather is crappy this week so i will be able to practice at home before going out and facing the public!
