So my brother is trying to get his first job and I have told him several times to apply for everything he can get to, once he has one job it is easier to get a different job (one he actually wants to do)

most of the jobs i send him though he wont apply for cause he does not want to do that job

for example he won't apply for working with food cause its not what he wants to do long-term, he won't apply for working in a shop for same reason (last shop job he applied for i insisted he applied for it

it is not based on location him refusing, its based on not wanting to do that job

i feel he is being too picky

yes i get that he has aspbergers (sp) which will limit a bit what he applies for but ruling stuff out based on don't want to not can't, i feel that is the wrong way to approach looking for work

am i right thinking that he's being too picky or could his aspbergers genuinely stop him working in a shop or working with food etc?

he needs to extend what he will consider doing otherwise he will never get a job and what will happen when he runs out of money and goes on job seekers allowance? they won't let him pick and choose what he applies for

I think you are right in what you say. A job is a job at the end of the day.
But, it seems he has his own way of doing it and isnt willing to budge to listen to other suggestions.

I think his aspergers could get in the way here, but not by making him unable to work in a shop (though that could have it's own issues), but more along the lines of him being firm in his approach and not seeing it how you do.

I would not know what is going on
inside the head of someone with Aspergers
you should not be getting responsibility for this

however I know what that is like
to get that kind of responsibility

maybe do a search online
how to help someone with aspergers
it might even be that he cant work
that he needs therapy and benefits for instance

in which case you would be exhausting yourself
with his search for work

the National Autsist Society might help ?
