Alternatives to Self Harming

To do something in place of self harm? I always listen to music, and knit, just lately t hough skin complaints, and weather related, my irritiblity kicked off, like mad, over the weekend/late week.

Working out in fitness.

Although I just knit, I used to do craft work, such as cross stiching.

and listneing to music and whilst on line.

I think there's a lot of valuable ideas here, lots of which people will have heard of but there's new ones to me. Though biting a lemon seems just like self harm to me!
It’s best to see what’s causing the feelings first. Hurting ourself allows us power over our body and sometime mind. l was traded as a child. So many suppressed memories made me insane drinking until l hit rock bottom, the beginning to heal...

Beating up my pillow
Eating a lemon or Pickled onion
Talking and hugging
Talking to my pet dog
Cold bath

I love some of these ideas, I play switch as a distraction but also complete a journal and a mindfulness diary everyday reminding myself of what I am proud of after everyday.

I have made a playlist of tracks that I listen to whilst relaxing in my room, I setup it up as a safe place with star lights and incense burner, I take myself away when things are getting intense.

I also have a weighted blanket so curling up with a cup of coffee and biscuits.

Following therapist suggestions of plenty of self care.
