Hi, I’m new to chat groups for self help. I’ve recently moved into my own place and learning to do things for myself with very little prompting/ help. I’m very educated and like to socialise, looking to make some good friends who have the same illness as me ( schizophrenia ) to talk about coping strategies and things in general. I’m busy these days cycling for charities. I also like watching things like Ellon Musk and space travel. I have part of a degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and like all things technical - I’m a bit of a handy man when it comes to fixing things.

Hi Passion flower, I had a supported tenancy where things were quite good but they stopped the funding so I’m in a place of my own now it’s a good job I do charity cycles it keeps me busy. Do you live in your own place, and what coping strategies have you developed?☺

I live in my friends house so she supports me. I use mindfulness and grounding techniques to help with my anxiety. I use music and other distraction activities to manage the voices.

I’m not sure weather I get voices or not. I can be sat down watching the tv and I’ll hear a normal everyday conversation coming from down the road, I’ll look out the window sometimes but cannot see anyone. I think social interaction is good for that, certainly for me. I like listening to music , I’m into pink floyd at the moment, but songs by billie holiday are good to - what music do you like listening to?☺

I listen to a lot of very old stuff from the 50's and 60's and 70's. I don't have a particular artist but just enjoy whatever I can find to download. I get quite bad voices throughout the day and meds don't seem to touch them much.Do you take meds?
