I know ther has been a few threads recently on this , but how often do people drink or take drugs? If it was an ideal situation I would be clean all together , but life , friends , party's , escaping reality etc gets in the way.
I have gone from drinking at least 5 days a week to only drinking once a month , but I still fear that it is too much.
Personality disorders and drink and drugs do not go hand in hAnd in my experience.

I am on 40mg of olanzapine , 800 seroquel , 200 sirtraline , 7.5 zimovane and 500 Xanax , that is a lot of medication and stress on the liver especially drink in top of it is a recipe for disaster.

Should I go off the drink completely? I don't want liver failure :(

You are on a lot of meds!

I'm not on any.

I smoke weed with my GP approval BC it works though.

Avoid everything else as much as I can. Spend my life sober with the occasional beer, but only in a social situation.

I'll have a bit of cocaine or meth if its free though :)

Lol cocaine is so expensive here you never see it so addiction ain't gonna happen

I'm worried about your liver too now :(

At the end of the day you have to work to get better.

I have been resisting the impulse to go on a tear in a major way for a week nearly.

Its hard work, when all you want to do is Feel Good instead of miserable

But I know giving in to self destruction makes things worse

I avoid booze when I'm like this because who needs the crash

I got like that and quit all the legals.

Just keep getting Weller.

Find and talk to a Good Pharmacist. They can help more than a GP can, with meds.

I used to drink alcohol once or twice a week, and then I might have a couple of glasses of red wine or one or two decent strength beers. My only vice - I didn't smoke or do street drugs. Well except chocolate.

But I found out alcohol didn't go well with my medication, it caused a certain softness in my sense of touch which led to issues. So I ended up saying goodbye to alcohol altogether, it has now been about 5 months since my last drink.

there are plenty of people in the anti med lot who'd say me taking meds is a more serious issue than me taking alcohol

remember the mentally ill ex cons saying they weren't mentally ill because they weren't on meds but drinking tenants extra strong and creating a nuisance such that one neighbour had a letter published in the local paper complaining about the housing of mentally ill people

Reading this thread reminds me of the days in the mid and late 90s when I used to drink special brew, tennents super and white lightning cider.

They were like syrup and tasted horrible.

I think they put chemicals in those drinks that give people severe physical and mental withdrawal symptoms.

can just see the public enquiry and them saying lessons have been learned, i'd definately get the benefits and more help than i could stomach

addaction counciller suggested night without alcohol lasted to 9 now boring without alcohol and i have time on my hands

addaction seems to be pushing abstention as a step towards a goverment work scheme, i'm on meds almost 60 with no work experience, as one psychiatrist said perceived wisdom was that schitzoprenics shouldn't work, after decades of that what chance
