I am used to the stereotypical opinions people have about mental health and the general stigma our society cannot seem to bypass, however I have just experienced a brand new rejection.
After a lovely weekend away I have come home to the post and found a letter from an insurance company, with whom I applied for income protection insurance. They have rejected my application on the grounds that I have a history of self-harm and suicidal thoughts, as well as a diagnosis of stress, anxiety and depression. Despite a letter from my GP in my favour and having it more or less under control. I burst into tears reading my very short and impersonal rejection letter, and I feel like a freak, like that is how I am being defined, and something so normal like insurance, is suddenly another hurdle I didn't expect to have.
Am I being dramatic?
Do any members have any experience of this?

I'm afraid thats insurance companies for you, if you don't tick the boxes they reject you. Try not to take it personally.

With insurance sometimes you need to lie.

then it is not valid and if they find out then your claim is rejected.
