I have IBS and it is under control.

Recently I have been getting acid reflux, and it is giving me a lot of pain.

I am going to try Gaviscon when it net strikes. If anyone has any advice, tips etc please say.

Also I don't drink any herbal tea, which ones may help?

I used to have bouts of really bad acid reflux, then I lost more than a stone via regular walking and don't suffer from the problem anymore.

Thanks for your comments.

I took gaviscon chewable tabs x 2 last night and it stayed away and didn't return today.

But I am going to cut out spicy food, and I drink tonic water for IBS cramps, cutting that out too. No food after tea time either.

So relieved the gaviscon worked.

Thanks for the support xx

Still better today, what a relief. I read that you can take up to 4 tablets, 4 times a day (chewable too, no water, such joy!). I only took two and I was sorted. But to think that when I am back at work I can get shut of the problem if it arises is a great relief.

Acid reflux is back today.

The sore throat is back too.

I have taken zantac now (12 hr relief). I don't think I had taken enough medicine last time. I have read that I may need to take meds for 6 weeks.

I am going to the doctors tomorrow to run it past them. Also if I need to take something for a long time I will need a prescription as it will be cheaper.

At least the symptoms have followed a pattern. I know the sore throat will go away and if I keep on taking the meds the acid reflux goes too.

I have got chamomile tea, but it would mean introducing something new to my diet and I think I had better be careful for now.

I'm in the wars, anxiety, ibs, peri menopause and now this. I will beat it all. XxxxX

My daughter (age 10) was getting quite a lot of reflux, then started getting stomach pains, she had become lactose intolerant for some reason. She has avoided high lactose food, or taken lactase tablets for times she had dairy and it all improved.

Good news that she is better now.

It's not nice. I will not have much sleep tonight, I will have to sit up because of the acid and my sore throat.

But I am determined to get this sorted out. I will not be in a hurry to get off the zantac or whatever the doctor prescribes.

Had a night of no sleep last night. That said I remained positive and I didn't get worked up. I looked up positive affirmations and did breathing exercises. When I felt really low with the pain I told myself to be positive and know that I would sort this out. I also used a heat pad which helped to relax me.

I am better this afternoon but still not right. I have pain in the roof of my mouth and my throat is still sore. Hopefully after a few days of tablets things will get better. I decided to stay on the zantac for a week before going to the doctors.

I also wrote down the 30 positive affirmations in a notebook today. They were really nice to read.

I have accepted that the next couple of days will be awkward but I will be improving all the time.

Hey really sorry that you are going through this have you had this checked out as sometimes these things …for instance maybe a hernia or ulcer both of which can be sorted. Just a thought.

Have you checked -don’t know how long you have been on zantac- to see if it is not the zantac that is causing this? I aint no doc. I do so hope things improve soon for you.

I have a hiatal hernia and have chronic problems with this. I take prilosec every day..it takes a few days to kick in.

a liquid antacid will soothe your throat and esophagus but be sparing with it..too much will give you diarrhea.

I was told to put wood blocks under my headboard to elevate the head.

If I am really having a bad time sleeping, I have a bunch of pillows that I can arrange to simulate a recliner position and have learned to sleep that way. That really helps and my night meds knock me out so that I sleep.

I've suffered with Acid Reflux for years and take Lansoprazole prescribed by my GP; works great :)

Lemon herbal tea, or camomile tea should help.

Thanks for the advice on this everyone, I am grateful.

I have had this now for four weeks. My throat is still sore and the runny nose thing is still there. I am taking the ritadine. There isn't any pain, just this sore throat and gravely voice. I still haven't been to the doctors. How long can acid reflux take to go?

Acid reflux is caused by poor diet, fatty foods and spicy food.

Tumtums are great for that you can get them in Rite Aid if your stateside or Rennie if in the UK which are not as good as tumtums but are better than nothing.

You need something chalky.

I have read that nasal drip is part of it.

I am hoping to go to the docs tomoz. I would have thought the ritadine would work.
