Hi Everyone-

This is the first time I have posted on an online mental health forum. Looking to get feedback from fellow sufferers. I have bipolar and social anxiety. Just started a new job after a year and half on unemployment. Terrified of screwing up and looking bad in front of others. I have held jobs most of my life - the last couple of years have been bad for me.

welcome mav!

going back to work after being unemployed for so long is definitely daunting. glad that you are able to go back to work though! for me, having a job in customer service helped me a ton with my anxiety. i still feel it, but it’s reassuring to know it’s nothing new.

i’m sure you’ll do great! hiccups at a new job are completely normal as you probably know; try not to give it too much thought. we’re here for you if you ever need to vent!! good luck! :)

Just wanted to welcome you to the forum.

May be worth finding strategies to reduce stress as it a trigger in Bipolar. But it sounds like you have worked before and maintained things. So maybe keep that past awareness in mind. Ironically the stress of being terrified of messing up is its own stress. You can only do the best you can.
