      Default thinking.of quitting work

I am considering quitting my job after Xmas. I find it very stressful and confusing, and it is making me miserable. I will have some savings. I am wondering about a complete change of career. Something more relaxed and office based.

      Any thoughts welcome

I would love to quit my job too. Husband hasnít worked for 8+ years now, I wish he would swap with me. We could both do one year on one year off. Or I would love a complete change if I have to work. Iíd prefer long hours over less days, doing something completely different. Iíve applied for quite a lot of jobs that I feel capable of, but Iíve got nowhere. Iím sure I could get another minimum wage job, but whatís the point? I work just round the corner from my house, anywhere else Iíd have to pay travel and be worse off.
Tbh Iíve not got very good confidence any more. Iím more than capable of doing things, but stress kills me MH-wise so itís a crappy balancing act.

I hope you have some luck, being London based I would think thereís more jobs than round where I am?

Could you reduce your days or work from home a day or two a week? Just thinking such adjustments might help make it less stressful.

      Hi Burt,

I am in agreement, to make the decision of quitting the present work role. How about your IT former work skills, couldn't you look for something along those lines - just a thought, however, and this is where I made my big mistake years ago, just try not to close up on job, without moving onto another one, find the other job first, and then hand notice in to management.

As we all know, in tems of employment or volunteering and mental health, it is the question of finding that geared up prospective work or voluntary employer whom understands, wholeheartedly, regarding mental health and if they should happen to have mental health sufferers or recovered well, on board, I am remembering about an organisation that helped to find placements, for mental health and disabilities, I don't know whether if they are in existance still, or not as the case maybe, now can I name drop? They are known as or were as Remploy. I think, that was the name, although don't count me on this, I think that was the name of this paritcular organisation. I am going back years when I was last generally through the media and advertisments, for jobs, aware about them.

I do wish you well, and best of luck. Ah, you don't want to be worse off, this time round, on ESA, I would seriously think, long , carefully and hard about this.

      Best Regards.

      Hi Burt,

I'm sorry to hear that your job is bringing you down and that with you illness it is too much to manage. Is there anyway you could work 2 or 3 days a week? When I first returned to work, 3 days a week was terribly difficult and I felt exhausted only working 22 hours.

I'm a little concerned by your comment that only drinking makes you feel better, but I guess it's concerning you too, otherwise you wouldn't have wrote it.

Maybe you could try to develop somevinterests outside of work which involves socialising to some degree. If you could join some sort of group and develop some friendships it is likely you might feel better about work and yourself in general

      Best wishes
