      Default thinking.of quitting work

I made a good comeback after 7 years on the sick, but I have to admit my job is a game for the young. I am a washed up old has been and should accept it

thanks for the support everyone, believe me it really helps. this is the only place I am me and I can air my thoughts. I am incredibly grateful for all the support I get.

I will talk it over with my dad but I think I have had enough. I need more time to work on my mental health and then look for a new career which is a lot more relaxed.

I think you should do whats right for you, if its making you ill again thats no good...

I'm sure with yur skill set something would come along, small contracts, part time working.. all options...

I have been getting up early and dealing with this job for about 10 weeks now, but I don't think I can continue it indefinitely. Something has got to give.

I am drinking alcohol on the weekends to relax. the stress of the job seeps into my homelife. this never used to happen when i was younger. but also boss is very demanding, and even though he says he will support me, he has complained when i asked for his help, and sometime he mocks me a little.

I am intelligent enough but the mind that has been ravaged with illness finds it hard to cope.

My plan is to hand in my notice to HR after xmas, because boss will be on holiday. I have a 6 week notice period, and I will take the remainder of my holidays during my notice period.

i have just seen my GP and told him I want to quit my job because of stress. I told him it is not worth it just because of money. He agreed with me in the end. He said he was surprised I jumped back in on the deep end after being out of work for 7 years.

I gave it my best shot, but like others on this forum, I have found the transition from benefits to full time work very challenging.

I want to go back to my life of going to the day centre and doing country walks. maybe a part time job will figure in my life if I Can get one.

I would quite like to work at a funeral business. It would suit me and my interest in death.

      I work in an office.

I find it ok, but it can be stressful sometimes. I only work four days which helps me a lot. I find this time to unwind keeps me going and means I can look after my flat properly.

I hope you can find a job that suits you.

I hope the best for you, Burt. If anyone deserves for things to work out for them, it is you.

I am slightly calmer today knowing that I have a plan to quit. still stressful though. I am glad it is Friday. my dad came round last night. I told him I was suicidal and he told me to stuff the job

Yeah, if it's not working out, I agree with your dad.

At least you've done it, and now got a better idea of what you want to do, so you've gained a huge amount from it.

Hopefully, as you say, now you have a plan and know it won't last, it should hugely reduce the stress
