Default What is the best medication for psychosis

I'm currently taking Clopixol depot 150mg and i think it causes hypersensitivity towards fabrics, also fever and weight gain, hand tremors and loss of rhythm when dancing and intrusive thoughts. Does anyone know of a medication that has less side effects? I have mild alopecia and i cannot wear wigs anymore because I'm sensitive towards fabrics now.

      Hi,
Lots of people have improved on aripipazole however it can cause weight gain, diabetes and many other symptoms.
Not everyone will get these side effects.
      Hope you feel better soon.
      Take care

I had an awful experience on Aripirazole, breathing problems.

I found olanzapine worked best for me but the side effect of weight gain was too much for me to stay on it. It was brilliant for voices and even better for my anxiety.

I have to say when all else fails there is always clozapine. It works well but the blood tests every week are not nice. Plus weight gain and a host of other side effects but it Seems to be the best one for treatment resistant schizophrenia.

I take olanzapine. The pdoc forces me to take it and I am not allowed to change drugs. I have to do her bidding god willing

Haldol stopped almost all the hallucinations and delusions but it was killing me. All I did was sit in my recliner all day, every day with my eyes closed and I lost the will to do anything including eating and even DRINKING COFFEE, and my hands got the shakes. Risperidone worked ok but I had bad negative symptoms. Now I'm on ziprasidone (Geodon) and I have more positive symptoms but my negative symptoms are much less so I am actually doing better than I had on I think any med I've ever been on before. Abilify, Seroquel and Zyprexa didn't help me much.

I am on latuda now (lurasidone) still got the voices although they are back to being manageble but I seem to have more energy my mood has lifted and so far no side effects.

Pharmacy had trouble getting it in. Trying to find out if anyone else here takes it
