      Default Angry with college

I went in to college today to apply for a web design course I have been trying to get on since last year. Everything was going fine until the subject of course fees came up and I explained that I was on ESA and DLA.

Apparently because I a on DLA and in the support group for ESA I am not eligible for any financial help. Their reason for this was because I a classed ad disabled I cannot actively seek work, therefore they constraint their resources on people who are more likely to get a job from finishing the course.

This has made me so angry, it's like they are writing me off as never being able to do anything. The main reason I wanted to do that course was because know one will employ me because I am "unreliable" and the stress would make me ill. My only realistic option for bringing in a bit of money for myself is self employment. I will probably loose my ESA when OH gets a job and don't want to feel like I am a burden on him.

Sorry to hear that Piglet. It is really unfair studying part time can be as little as one day a week totally different to employment.

I know that if you do a degree course or diploma level 4/5 you are still allowed to claim a student loan (if you haven't already had one)

The course I want to do is only 2 hours a week which is something I could manage too. My only hope is that OH's dad decides to help me out
