Physically Feel Sick And Anxious At Brown Letter Today

Well just had a letter from the DWP explaining that within 2 weeks i will get a phone call that i will be sent the ESA50 form as it's my turn to be coming off Incapacity Benefit due to the changes coming in

I feel bad enough already with my high anxiety, depression, IBS symptoms hard to cope with and also have sarcoidosis issues, my medication knocks me for 6 and I'm scared too answer the phone knowing it will be them, i'm sure it was them the other day and the number was withheld and i don't talk to people i don't know (should they leave a phone number to say who it is?)

All this now it's my turn could make me feel like overdosing as i can't cope with it all and i feel frightened... HELP

They rang me at home and it was from the same number given on paper work ( if you need to get in touch with us). i'm much the same way - really struggling to cope. Things had already been going downhill for me and now a new darkness on the near horizon.

if its any consolation, myself and 2 others i know with mh difficulties both got put thru to support group without a medical based on esa50 alone in these last few weeks, so it seems they are more atuned to mental health

I don't anything for granted especially with these ******** , i hope i get through it but when does it get to the point of money being stopped? is it at the decision of failing a medical or not being rewareded it after the form sent back when they get to your case?

dunno, but it takes ages to sort out the medical

As i understand it - you fill in the form and send it off - with any supporting evidence that you can muster. They assess your check with doctors/medics etc and then either recommend you be placed on Esa from that or refer you for further medical assessment in person.

I'm sure it was them ringing me up this morning at 11.30 but I didn't answer as the 1471 said the number was withheld, I have a phobia of not answering calls that the number is not left and i don't know who it is. I don't have caller display on my phone, had that many marketing calls I'm frightened to answer the phone now.

Why do they have to ring up at weekends just to make you feel worse than you already are?

What's the time from sending off the form for them to write back to you with the next step on the decision?

It probably will be "them". I too have real problems answering the phone, even if it's someone I know. They'd called several times for me, hadn't left any messages, then one day when I was having a better morning I just picked up and answered. They asked for me, but then wouldn't say who they were and just kept saying it was a "personal" call. It was ridiculous, why can't they at least give an idea of who they were even if they don't go into exact details, surely they have on their records the problems people have and can understand..................ha, what am I talking about, it's not like they know anything about us. Anyway, I finally said it was me, and basically they just wanted to tell me they were sending the form out. What the hell the had to phone for I don't know, maybe to check I still lived at that address? If you never answer to them I don't know what would happen, maybe you'd never have to go for a medical...................

Just to say, I don't answer the phone and kept getting calls but no message left a few months ago. I did 1471 and rang the number to see who it was (there were lots of phone calls and was getting paranoid). It was atos. So they didn't withhold their number when they were trying to get me. (They had made a mistake and shouldn't have been contacting me but it triggered the review process anyway. I sent form back and got put into support group again without medical). Good luck.
