      Default IBS and Mental Health

Not content with anxiety and depression and associated skin dermatitus, it seems I now have anxiety related IBS!

So far, since I have been monitoring my food intake versus symptoms it seems to be "nice" stuff like pizza, rich flavoured foods etc that set it off at its most severe. I have pills to take 3 times a day, before food which help a little (when i remember them) but I just wondered if there was anyone else who has been / is in the same position as me and if you had any advice or useful tips for me. I really don"t want to be reduced to cups of tea and lightly buttered toast in order to avoid the painful stomach cramps and spasms.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it!

Hiya hun, I was first dx with IBS when I was about 11. It took me ages to find the foods that set me off, mainly because I was young and impatient. I find that really spicy things and caffeine are the worse, anything that is a stimulant. I am slowly starting to introduce them again though coz I figured after about 10 years maybe it would sort itself out. Seems to be going ok so far

What tabs are you taking? I found that buscopan was a bit hit and miss but colafac (sp?) worked pretty well.
That's a very nice everything you have there.......Tsssssssssssss

Hi Wendolene I have IBS due to stress/anxiety I'm on omeprazole. I can't eat cucumber, nuts, wholewheat, pulses, anything corn based, sweetcorn, whole eggs (fried, boiled, egg mayonnaise etc), fruit juices, fried food, roast beef, pastry, anything with garlic in it, probiotic yogurts, fatty meats, cheddar cheese, red onion, melon, spicy food and butter spread on things. To name a few.

I find ginger tea a lifesaver if you're having a bad attack they sell pure ginger tea in ethnic supermarkets and large Tescos.

      I don't know about alcohol because I don't drink.

Hmm I lost my post again, typical

Anyway, I've had 'IBS' for years and last year also diagnosed with functional dyspepsia and a potential hiatus hernia but have dr's undecided on..

      Anyway:

Sweetcorn, corn etc are evil to me. No go areas.
Also fatty food in fatty sauces I.e. pork belly.
      Deep pan pizza
Broccoli and cauli unless very well cooked (urgh)

Sometimes I will be fine other times to the point of passing out on the bathroom floor. ..

Though I am about 90% dairy free now, which has by far been a huge improvement digestivelly and intend to keep this balance!
Behind the smile upon my face, the glint in my brown eyes, no one will ever know the pain I feel inside
