Default What a manager did on Fri 4/5/12

I did try posting this 5/5/12 but it seems to have gone into a cyber black hole. At work on Fri a couple of the managers RW & KB were laughing outside there office. I didn't think anything of it and went into the managers office. Whilst I was in there RW came in and stood beside me and I noticed she was wearing the plastic arm from the manniquin outside their office, which she doesn't normally do. So I smiled and she turned round and said are you making fun of my disability? I said no and she said she was going to report me for bullying and harassment. I had previously thought she was a nice person - not now. I wouldn't make fun of anyone's problems and another member of staff once accused me of being racist when I wouldn't be. He described a phone which is black as being 'ethnic'. I did say to him at the time I wouldn't be racist.
Every job I have there are problems.

Oh dear Lilac, that sounds a horrible experience. How can she report you for bullying and harassment when it's quite clearly RW who is in the wrong. Do you have a union or a occupational health section at work. It may be worth talking to someone like that. This kind of behaviour cannot be allowed to continue.

Have they done anything like this to you before? If it's an isolated incident then perhaps your reaction may have made them realise that they have overstepped the mark. If this is something that has happened before then if you don't have a union or occupational health, I would definitely seek advice from the citizens advice bureau.

      take care,

      Wendolene

Try not to let the bastards get you down babe and report them. Make sure you get to put your side across.

Thanks guys. No nothing like this has happened before. I don't think we have an occupational health dept. There is a union but I'd worry about approaching them.

Don`t worry about it. If the worse comes to the worse, it`s her word against yours, and you know you`re in the right. If you aren`t a Union member right now, it might be worth thinking about joining. Just out of interest why would she be wearing the plastic arm anyway? It doesn`t come across to me as normal behaviour...

Hi Wendolene26 thanks again for your reply. I just wondered why you suggested Occupational Health? I had a look at my payslip to see if there was a number there and there isn't there is a number for a counselling and support helpline I thought that might be an alternative.
No they haven't done anything like that before although one of the manager's once asked me if I had fleas - I did say no.

Hi Boris thanks for the message. I thought she was wearing the arm as a joke as they were joking. She's always been pleasant previously.

Take it as a joke then. Though not a very funny one. I don't think I should pursue it further unless any further things upset you. Just try to forget it.
