Believe me the prognosis and your quality of life will be much better if you have a diagnosis of Schizophrenia than if your diagnosed BPD.

To be honest like alot of Mental Illnesses the definition of Schizophrenia is not absolute and varies from country to country and Consultant to Consultant.

From my own perspective, which admittedly may be flawed and wrong-a typical sign of Schizophrenia is when you can no longer keep in context something that is tormenting or Plageuing you.

For example I uesd to worry about having IBS and the agony that goes with it.

That would be defined as Neurosis.

But when I became unable to sleep and started thinking that the IBS had in fact turned into a Physical Alien that was living inside my Gut this was interpreted as a Psychotic Delusion and symptomatic of a Schizoid type Illness.

Morbid as it may be I hope that helps some.

      Default Diagnosis.

I think symptoms differ from person to person, and a great deal depends on their social conditions as well. I suggest that you go back to your G.P.(orphonr him) and and ask him to refer you to a psychiatrist. It is best to go as a voluntary patiebt, and they may wish to keep you in for a shortish time to etablish the signs and symptoms, and find the best medication to suit you .
Best wishes, and take caare but don't delay.

Well imo a GP is in no place to be diagnosing a psychiartic condition~ they ought to be refering you to a trained professional pdoc if that's what you want.

You could ask for a second opinion. That might confirm or confound what has happened before.
