      Default Bad day,Bad night

Anyone out there at the moment who has ever had this?I've been really weird today-everything seems to be running in cycles-I'm calm for a little while, then I get really anxious,my heart starts racing hard, then I get the shakes and start to cry, calm myself down, then it all starts again.and again.and again.
I cant sleep-it's still going on-my son saw it all earlier, which makes me feel even worse, cos he shouldn't have to see that, and I feel like I'm failing him by being this way.I just wish it would stop.
      I know I'm in my own world,but it's ok,they know me here.

If you don't mind me asking; What meds are you currently taking, if any? It can be difficult to help & support you without knowing you these things you see.

Plus, is there anything that you're worried about or could have possibly triggered these attacks?

Do you drink caffeine or alcohol? These can trigger panic.

I'm not on any meds at the moment-I was using seroxat, but that was quite a few years ago.Nothing since then,I've tried in the past to manage things myself, but I have some major problems going on with my family and work at the moment, which started early autumn and came to a head recently, and I haven't been able to keep control of things very well since then-sometimes I get really down,I get anxious and can't focus on anything, other times I get hyped up and do stupid things.I drink tea,but not coffee, and I don't drink alcohol-had a bit of a problem with it in the past, especially when I'm like this,so I keep well away.(sober for 11 years).

I'm surprised the GP didn't get you anti-depressants. You're under stress - it's not like there's no obvious cause to how you're feeling. Doesn't sound like a very good GP for this sort of problem. Is there another in the practice you could see? It's just that the pills take a while to work and the sooner you're on them the better.

My GP is terrible-went to see them last week, told him what was going on,he said 'what do you want me to do about it?Everyone is stressed',signed me off work for two weeks and sent me on my way.I agree I definitely need something.I'm moving soon,so I am not sure if I should change practice if it is only for a few weeks, but don't know if I can cope with everything until I register at my new place.

Definately change doctors! grrr they make me so mad. do you know how much they get paid??? 150K approx. so they should give a damn about how you are feeling!
You have no obligation to see the same doctor again. get an emergency appointment and speak to someone else. if they cant help you - they will refer you to your local crisis team who can try and talk to you and calm you down in the mean time.
      please take my advice!
