Blimey, just got a phonecall from my dad-first time he's spoken to me for weeks. He wanted to know why the doctor signed me off with stress-hmmmm,is it really that much of a tricky question?lol. At least he knows I'm leaving now,and might agree that I don't have to go into work in the meantime(I hope)-but he still wants to have a meeting with the people who were causing all the trouble in the first place-so instead of calming down,I'm getting anxious again. He said that he 'couldn't deal with splitting his life in half',but I can't face seeing them and he wont talk to me on my own.

Took you good peoples advice(thanks, much appreciated),spoke to MIND(they suggested a reason for my behaviour as well-should maybe ask the doc about that?) and got an appointment with a doctor who knows mental health and is really nice,so heres hoping that I get some help.Appointment is tommorow morning. Here's hoping....

Glad you're hopefully getting somewhere. Doing something positive about your problems does seem to help - you still feel crap but you still have that sense of pride and that maybe the crap won't last.

Good on ya for getting all that set up greenfairy!
I'm crossing all my fingers and toes for you that this appointment goes much better and this doctor can suggest something helpful. (I wish there were an emoticon for being contorted in a quasi-yoga pose with all my digits and limbs crossed.)
Maybe you could write down the thing you want to ask the doc about, that Mind mentioned? I find it helpful to write things down on a notecard in case I forget or just can't speak when I get there.
      Best wishes.

Thanks scruffaluff, good idea,I always get nervy when I speak to the doc-I get nervous when I speak to people full stop.I end up spluttering and forgetting my words,so a notecard,or something like it would be useful.MIND people said my last diagnosis was so long ago it might not stand and that from what I said about my behaviour and moods it sounded more like Bipolar,so debating whether I should ask the doc outright,or just see what he comes up with when I see him.
Love the idea for the emoticon-I actually have on on my pc!!!!!!It sits in a lotus position and fies, but I can't get it to paste on here. Thanks for the crossed fingers, appreciate it

Seen the doc,he actually listened to me,which is a relief! He's given me an Anti-d for now,and sent me fo therapy, but wants me assessed within the next 4 weeks(part therapy based, part consultation),so got to go to see the nurse to see how the meds are working in 2 weeks, then back to the doctor in 4 weeks-had to fill out a couple of questionaires while I was there so he could see what was going on,so if I had missed anything out when I spoke to him,he would still know what my symptoms were.Just as well because I really upset and anxious when I was in there.Just glad he listened to me and I can start getting things sorted out

Yep - it's a relief isn't it. You'll still feel really crappy for a while yet - but it's a good feeling that you're actively trying to sort things out - like it won't last forever (well not as bad as that it won't). Makes it much easier to deal with.

glad you are taking steps in the right direction! its not easy but the had bits have been done.
it takes time for the meds to work so stay with it and stay patient.

      Ah that's good news, greenfairy.
I'm glad to hear they have also put in follow up appointments and referred you for assessment and therapy as well as the medication.
I hope it starts to ease up. Take good care of yourself while you wait for the anti-depressants to kick in and the therapy and rebuilding.
Hopefully it might take the intensity or desperation away a little bit to know you are going to get some help now. You are moving in the right direction (and you made that happen by not taking 'go away' for an answer!)
