Default After 7 years of smoking

I finally smoked infront of my Mum & Dad.
      It feels mad.
I am nearly 21 years old and have smoked since I was 14, kept it top secret and now I can freely smoke infront of them.
      AMAZING.
Don't have to run upstairs every time I want a fag.

Mad but it feels like another thing off me shoulders.

I felt great when I could finally smoke in front of my parents.

But later I felt it was them just accepting their perceptions that there was nothing they could do to stop me killing myself.

So on that note, is it that amazing?

      Do they smoke?

I only ask, because if they don't, then they MUST have known. When I stopped for 6 weeks last year, I could smell a smoker from 20 feet!

Hi, I reckon I must have been in my late forties / early fifties before I smoked in front of my
parents...but I think they knew anyway.

It caused my dad much grief..he always wiggled his finger at me when I had had a ciggie on the back yard!....
he went on to die of COPD three years ago, which although was non-smoking related, he was fully aware
that smoking could have contributed to it...I think he was trying to tell me something.

I still smoke but not in my house, or my mums...and still feel uncomfortable about it and not free.

My Mum and Dad accept it beause I smoke to stop me eating.
No it isn't perfect but at least they understand I didn't start to fit in with the cool kids.
They both smoke, and my Mum has COPD also.

I just felt better that I wasn't keeping another secret from them.
      Like my binging and purging.

But after these comments I don't think I should have bothered with the thread :/

Well if you want generic ''Oh, that's excellent'' replies in response to a thread celebrating your smoking habits, then I agree, perhaps you shouldn't have bothered with the thread.

There's 'freedom of speech' on this forum. There's plenty of forums where this isn't the case, if you wish to use those.

I should also say, my response was attempt to persuade you not to smoke. Because you're 21 now, and if you come down with lung cancer in your thirties, you may wish that you re-considered your attitudes towards your smoking. In that respect, I was trying to be kind.
