Anytime, anything you ever need to know just ask.

Being from your local area I know how our CMHS works, well how it should work but doesn't

Same question sort of, from me.

But I did ask last week, about how to get to see someone for more support. He says it's him or A+E

I have a new prescription for Duloxetine (for panic attacks and cyclothymia with rapid cycling)

      That's it!

I am having counselling, but that is through Mind and not really what I need. I need life support and medical help, to help my mood swings and depression.

Thanks for any help. I'm hearing about people with CPN's and what have you and I have nothing. I feel at times, the only way people will listen, is if I cut myself and walk into A+E.

And also told my GP about my drinking - he just said cut down as it's not good for you!!!!

writing this down, seems I need to see another GP.

But how do you get more support?

I can understand your distress but S/H is not the way to go, turning your anger and frustraion in on yourself is a self defeating behaviour, you are the one getting hurt not anyone else, so please do try to be kinder to yourself.

Go see the GP write a list of all the things you struggle with, all the day to day functioning issues that are challenging and ask that they refer you to CMHT for a full assessment of your mental health, CPA needs and treatment needs. I hope that helps.

He knows how bad I am, because he wrote me letters for my ESA appeal and sick notes for a year.
He says it's him or A+E
I told him how I need more support and am not getting any, not like some people on here who seem to be able to see psychiatrist or nurses when they need to.

      I feel ignored.

I did have CBT last year, missed the last one and got dropped. They didn['t get the message that i was too ill to go and ignored me, so I never got back to them (felt they were glad to see that back of me)
(she messed with my head too, told me she thought I didn't have a cyclothymia, but ocd)

Anyway, I have to go back through them, I think. I don't know where I am up to

You are far from alone in your plight with struggling to get access to MH services that would meet your needs. Reorganisation and cuts backs means many are being left without care. The other way is for you to register with another GP, tell them what you need and why and ask them for a second opinion of your mental health. You could self fund a private p/doc assessment it is not as expensive as you would think. I did it.

I have a solicitor dealing with my clinical dispute with CMHS and have not had active involvement from them for over a year & I have been threatened with discharge from CMHS managers, which they are obviously trying to do.

Thank you so much! I do feel a bit better now.
Does your GP have to listen to a private specialists? That probably sounds stupid.

      How much is it? Roughly.

And due to the lack of support I receive, at my tribunal in January, the man questioned me on why I don't see anyone else apart from my GP.

So it made me lose my benefits in a way, because I only have my GP. As if I'm not really that ill, if I'm not in hospital or under a psychiatrist.

I felt like a liar and as if I was making things up.

Yes they do have to listen to a specialist senior consultant, they are afterall an 'Independent Expert' so chose one wisely, make sure you have sight of their CV before committing yourself to a consultation with them. It should not cost more than £300-350 for the initial assessment and report back to your GP, subsequent appointments should be considerably less if they deem it necessary to assess you over more than one appointment.

Go to the GP and ask for 'An Independent Second Opinion of your diagnosis, medication and CPA care & treatment needs'
