      I have to plan too, it takes me a whole week to sort out the shopping list and stay in budget, it's a full time job in itself. Even after all that we don't get half the things we really need. And a lot of the time still, my friend or t's mum has to help out money wise. Like I only got shampoo and painkiller ointment today, both necessities for me, because my friend bought them for me.

      I am also learning to cut my own hair, I dye it myself too if and when my friend chooses to treat me to dye. I'm getting pretty good at cutting, have hair dressing scissors from way back. It saves a bloody fortune once you get past the lack of confidence. It's surprisingly easy too.

      Freezable meals are always a good way to go too. I have home made tomato soup i made at the weekend. I get several servings out of one pot.

      I understand completelly, i shave my hair once a month with my own clippers, i buy all my stuff from pound shops so i save money (e.g bleach toothpaste, shampoo), its takes alot of thought and preparation and planning. Depression paranoia and shopping, its a bit much to handle sometimes eh, but i got everything i need till wensday so im ok and it takes the pressure off for a bit, but i do understand your routine

      My local supermarket is co op which took over somerfield. Adding somerfield didn't really improve range of stock and prices. Best thing about co op is you get a reasonable dividend.
      Also have Sainsburys,Lidls, and Farm foods fairly near by(ie within walking distance).Lidls is cheap but i can only buy relatively small amount of stuff at a time and find it hard having to queue up often behind people with one or more fully laden trolleys and the fact you get rushed through the checkouts.Farmfoods has some cheap stuff too but the quality isn't that good.

      My main problem is difficulty organising myself re making a weekly shopping list and the fact i shop in a very bitty/limited way ie what i can carry back in 2-3 cloth bags at a time.
      It would help if i could do an online shop and be sure of having stuff delivered to my 11th floor flat, but one and only time i tried doing Tesco's order(Christmas 2005)i had to go down to the main street and hump 12-14 carrier bags back inside and in the lift to my flat. Have not tried an online shop since as it seems Tescos only deliver as far as 3rd floor and i can't find anything on Sainsburys site to indicate whether or not they would deliver directly to my 11th floor flat.

      Just found this article which doesn't fill me with much hope.

      Knowing where i live if they dumped stuff on ground floor and i had to go down and get it it would likely be half inched by the time i got down there.
      Yet inside there is this perpetual nagging doubt;
      the feeling we are possessed by a 'subtle lack of togetherness''.

      If we really want to say what helps in mental health, there’s a straightforward mantra and it goes like this:

      “Some people find medication helpful. Some people find therapy helpful. Some people find medication and therapy helpful. Some people don’t find either helpful.”

      I tend to internet shop and have delivery to my mums so i cop out of that one, living on the 11th floor is a tricky one, the drivers cant be bothered and just want less hassle, its amazing how fast i can go into a shop and do my shopping, most times out in less than 10 minutes

      I wish I could justify going to my pound shop. There's a lit I'd get in there, but a lit more I wouldn't so it pretty much doubles the petrol cost. T won't shop online and can't blame him either. If we go get it ourselves we can use our whole 30. If we get it delivered we have to keep a fiver back out of the 30 for the delivery charge. The other 20 out of the 50 is for petrol. At least getting the shopping ourselves the petrol we use getting there is already included in the 20 a week expenditure, we can also choose replacement products ourselves too unlike with delivery who just put in what they think is the best alternative or worse still give you nothing at all to replace it with.

      We get just under £100 a week and it is a struggle, I would probably just about manage if I was on my own but two people kind tips it over the edge and I end up playing catch up each month and some bills don't get paid. I've tried budgeting as best I can but most times we both end up only eating once a day. The biggest pain is that I have quite a few allergies so have to pick my food carefully so I don't get ill and I've found that most of the cheaper food is packed full of all the stuff I can't have to make it taste better .

      bulbie, I can't believe you aren't getting HB or CTB. Did they give you any reason why you aren't eligible coz I though it was based on your income.
      That's a very nice everything you have there.......Tsssssssssssss

      Something to do with T working full time so they decided we weren't entitled even though we get less than a grand a month after tax.
