      Default Grocery shopping

      Was wondering how much posters here, especially those living on their own, spend on grocery shopping per week/month.
      Yet inside there is this perpetual nagging doubt;
      the feeling we are possessed by a 'subtle lack of togetherness''.

      If we really want to say what helps in mental health, there’s a straightforward mantra and it goes like this:

      “Some people find medication helpful. Some people find therapy helpful. Some people find medication and therapy helpful. Some people don’t find either helpful.”

      Per week, at Uni, £70.

      I try to eat well. I buy a lot of steak and fish in bulk.

      Sainsbury's basics mince sometimes makes an appearance as well.

      I spend £30ish on food. I cook up large amounts and freeze meals. I also buy basics, alternative weeks. Fruit is essential and some kind of oily type fish.

      I too try to keep it to around £30ish a week, but it's hard as prices are going up hugely, altho I do buy alot of fresh fruit and veg. Every 6 weeks or so I get an internet delivery of bulky stuff that I can't carry home and that costs as much to get delivered as a bus to the supermarket and back. And some weeks I do spend around £50 when stocking up on basics. Finances are stretched to the limit and sometimes I avoid shopping for a week and rely on whatever's tinned/frozen - I bulk cook/freeze too.

      My budget only allows £30 a week for food, several days have to be meat free because I just can not afford meat every day, we also eat a lot of pasta & I make or buy a cheese sauce, then bulk it out with vegetables, things like bolognaise I make enough for 4 meals then freeze half. Always make sure we have fruit & veg can generally get good offers on those that alternate week to week (price wise)!

      i go to my local big Tesco at the exact time they do the 3 rd reduction of the day on stuff going out of date, and fill up my freezer, all the stuff is sold at a loss, you can't get it cheaper. ( i actually had them pay me once for my shopping, due to a money back offer, but that won't happen again )

      If you have the means, shop at a trade warehouse, and buy in bulk.

      Never shop at Iceland, they make their profit by getting as much water in the frozen product as possible, your buying ice ! If you defrost it, which they tell you not to do, you will see it shrinks to nothing.

      don't bother with the economy own brands in supermarkets they are a waste of money. eat proper food but don't pay inflated retail prices for it.

      this is exactly what I do, with tesco and waitrose go when they discount everything, which for tesco is usually around 3 o'clock in the afternoon, sainsburys at 8pm at night, just handy on my drive home from work. And if I can be bothered waitrose which I get there just in time at the end of the day when everything is like 30p !! bargin !!!!!!

      Default Get in there

      I'm surprised by that time, usually in my experience it's around 7pm to 9pm, i'm guessing your not getting the maximum reduction. every store is different though.

      I am curious to know what kind of benefits you are on that you are able to afford £70 per week? Do you have to pay rent and are you supported by your parents at all?
